Week 6 July 26 & 28

Bean Poem by Molly VanAvery

upon picking the green beans

tweeds of summer are bold

in their ever growing assertions

they height, having overcome

the obstacles of time and a farmer's intentions

step into their take over

and find your bare summer legs scratched

and dented. stoop over and take their no

as an invitation to search harder

because there are beans, it is time to pick them

the beans are the most important part

of an exclamation mark, or if they are bent

see them as half a parenthesis

it is worth the search of life

to believe beneath what is visible

is harvest
