A reminder from Carter: Keep tomatoes on the counter rather than the fridge and use the ripest ones first. This improves flavor and allows for optimal ripening. To save for later, colder, darker days--- cut off all blemishes, core and cook down on medium heat. Then cool and freeze flat on a baking sheet in the freezer. Easy to pull out for marinara sauce, pizza sauce, chili or a tomato base.

We're inspired by opening the door to cultural exploration led by food. Okra claims African roots and is a vegetable with properties complementary to binding soups and stews. It's delicious pickled, fried or sauteed with onions, tomatoes and peppers.
