- Ornamental gourds
- Slicing cucumbers
- Paste tomatoes
- Bell peppers
- Jalapeño peppers
- Flat leaf parsley
It IS decorative gourd season and we hope you'll enjoy these we send along as a marker for the start of it. These are not for eating. My favorite treatment is a little floor wax and glitter dip.
The watermelons we've had have all been sweet and juicy. By contrast, the canteloupe has been a bit bland. Rather than risk disppointing you, we've decided to donate them and hope for a better crop next year.
It's our hope that your okra is small and tender enough and your carrots are big enough to enjoy. My high school buddy, Jama, who lives in Tennessee posted her okra recipe last week and I tried it. Everyone loved it. Slice, agitate in a bag of cornmeal with pepper. Fry in a good bit of oil and salt.
We continue to see the effects of the August hailstorm on the produce. If there is damage to any of yours, just cut it off and enjoy the best of summer's end.
